Biography
Alicia Prado
Hello, I'm Alicia Prado. I was born in Madrid but grew up in Málaga, a land full of light that has always been my refuge and my inspiration. Even as a child I knew that art would be with me all my life. I started out dancing flamenco, in a bata de cola and heels, because that was how I expressed myself before I knew I could also do it with a paintbrush.
I studied at the School of Applied Arts and Crafts in Málaga, where I was lucky enough to learn from great masters such as Don José María Roquero, Don Pablo García Rizo and Professor Don Manuel Gracia. They taught me to look at the world with curious eyes and to capture it on paper, on canvas… or wherever it was needed.
Over the years I kept exploring new techniques: pastel, watercolour, oil, acrylic. I trained with artists such as Aurelio Rodríguez López, Álvaro Castagnet, Mustapha Ben Lahmar and Fermín García Sevilla. Each workshop was a new adventure, a way of finding my artistic voice.
Today I am a member of the watercolour group Acuamálaga, and thanks to them I have been able to show my work in both local and international exhibitions. But beyond the walls of a gallery, my wish is for my paintings to find their way into homes where they can go on telling stories.
There is a lot of who I am in my work: the duende of flamenco, nostalgia for an Andalusian childhood, the colour of the ferias, the calm of a sunset by the sea. I paint what I feel, with loose, lively strokes, sometimes improvised… but always full of intention. Every painting you see here holds a part of me.
Thank you for visiting my gallery. If any of my works speaks to your heart, it would be an honour for it to become part of your life.
