The Eiffel Tower rises on the right above a sea of barely suggested rooftops, while the sky fills almost the entire surface. Pinks, blues and lilacs mingle in the watercolour in broad transparencies, creating the soft light of dawn or dusk. The golden tones of the buildings in the foreground balance the composition.
