A wide river crosses diagonally through a plain of green and ochre fields, seen from a high bank. The water reflects the pale light of the sky in pinkish and bluish tones, while the dark vegetation in the foreground frames the scene. The watercolour, with backgrounds softening into the distance, conveys calm and spaciousness.
