Flower stalls in intense colours are spread beneath large white parasols in a square, in front of a pale façade with an ornate doorway. Barely suggested shoppers move between the stalls. The watercolour, with its quick brushwork, contrasts the explosion of colour of the flowers with the light and shadows on the ground.
