A narrow street of whitewashed houses leads towards a tower beneath a leaden grey sky. The contrast between that heavy sky and the white façades, with wooden doors and flowerpots in the windows, gives the painting its character. Violet shadows run across the ground and small figures in the distance give a sense of scale. A watercolour with loose brushwork and an intimate atmosphere.
